Peter Andre says he’s the victim of a “wind up” after it was claimed he asked fans to not attempt “physical contact” with him at a recent show due to coronavirus fears.

His rebuttal comes in response to a sign, widely shared online, that was purportedly on display at his recent live show in Southampton. It asked fans to not make contact with the Insania singer, or to take selfies with him.

“Due to the recent cases of the coronavirus please DO NOT have any physical contact with Peter Andre,” the sign read.

“Please DO NOT take any selfies with Peter Andre. Apologies for any inconvenience. Thank you.”

In response, Andre, 47, shared a screengrab of the story on Instagram and insisted he had not been aware of the signs.

“Ok this must be a wind up because I hugged Everyone I met.

“People were saying to me they had been told not to touch me and that there were signs. I thought they were joking.

“Brilliant. I am now officially a diva without being a diva. On a serious note though don’t touch me.”

Worldwide, the death toll due to the coronavirus has risen to 3,044, according to Reuters.

In his recent New! Magazine column, Andre spoke about his fears for his wife Emily, who works in a local hospital.

“I was at an airport last week and all the customs officers were wearing masks,” he said.

“It really alarmed me. Obviously Emily being a doctor brings it close to home for me and, of course, I’m worried about her. But I’m also proud of her doing her job.”
