Peter Andre has shared how a heartbreaking family ordeal he went through made him realise that there is a "bit of truth" when people say things heal over time.

In a recent episode of the Exhibit A podcast, Peter was discussing pregnancy pain with host Abbey Clancy when the conversation turned to the pain associated with grief and how it differs for each person.

Abbey pointed out how women "forget" the latter, while the pain of losing someone will "never go away", which prompted Peter to open up about the grief he suffered following the death of his brother, Andrew.

Peter said: "You know, people say things heal over time, right? There is a bit of truth in that, but I think if I could explain it in a physical situation; if you lost a limb that you use every day, you learn to live without that limb, but life's never the same. I mean, it's the only way I could explain it because when I lost him, it took me back to that time in '98.

"Like, I was...I had a horrific breakdown, although the doctors did tell me it was probably me just mourning. It was probably a situation I'd never experienced before and I've confused the two.

"I just went through a horrible time. Losing my brother was something I couldn't talk about for years."

The 'Mysterious Girl' singer explained that when people mentioned his brother, he would have to "leave" the conversation and he couldn't have photos of him in his house.

However, he now feels "fine" talking about it and went on to say the "one thing" that does change is that he only remembers the "fun things" about his brother these days.

It was previously reported that Peter left his reality show, Peter Andre: My Life, because of his brother's death, with the singer writing in his new! magazine column that he was "constantly breaking down".

The Mirror previously reported that Andrew was thought to have been responding to his treatment, but he deteriorated in the November before sadly passing away the next month

Peter previously said of his brother's diagnosis: "I was horrified, so shocked, and I broke down. The tears were just rolling down my face and I’ve cried every day since."
