Peter Andre addresses ‘sad reality’ of children having older fathers

Peter Andre has shared his opinions about being an older dad, saying that he would find it ’hard' to have an older dad.

He was responding to the news that Channel 4 presenter and journalist Jon Snow had just welcomed a child at 73.

“Any news of a baby is lovely, but I guess the sad reality is how many years does the child have with its father?," the singer wrote in his column for New! Magazine. "If I was 18 and my dad was 91, I’d find that hard.”

Andre, 48, has four children of his own.

His remarks came weeks after Snow, 73, welcomed his first child with his wife Dr Precious Lunga, 46.

The father-of-four then added: "On the flip side you could have a baby at 20 and something could happen to you at 25.

"It's not something I've ever thought of before really. I'm even struggling thinking about having children after 50!"

Andre shares children Princess and Junior with his ex Katie Price as well as Amelia and Theo with his wife of five years, Emily Macdonagh.

While the couple suggested last year that they might be open to welcoming two more children, Andre has also joked that the pandemic and multiple lockdowns had impacted their sex life.

Speaking to The Sun at the start of the month, Andre joked that he was a little put off having any more children while he homeschooled his kids.

“If you could see the madness in this house the last thing you'd want to think about is having more children."
