Peter Crouch has won Twitter once again with a hilarious tweet about Lady Gaga’s outfit at the annual Women in Hollywood celebration.

The Stoke City striker is well-known for his sense of humour on social media, regularly making jokes about his exceptionally tall 6ft 7in frame.

A Star Is Born lead Gaga, who plays Ally in the latest remake, was his latest target after being pictured wearing an oversized Marc Jacobs suit.

Crouch couldn’t resist making a jibe, tweeting: “A star is Born is one of the best films I have seen for such a long time. So much so I lent Lady Gaga one of my suits.”

The footballer also lavished praise on the film, which is Bradley Cooper’s directorial debut, describing it as “amazing”.

Crouch’s previous Twitter classics have included him feeding two giraffes in a holiday snap last year, joking about “spending time with the family” but it was a tweet after the birth of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s third child that had everybody in stitches.

Referencing his height again, Crouch shared a post from Kensington Palace of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge waving to cameras above.

Not one to miss such an open goal, Crouch wrote: “Congratulations! It was a pleasure sharing your big day with you x.”

Crouch married model Abbey Clancy in 2011. The couple have three children together – Sophia, seven, Liberty, three and nine-month-old son Johnny.

Gaga opened up about her choice of clothing at Monday night's event, saying she felt the suit was the right outfit for the powerful messages on sexual assault and mental health that she addressed in her speech that evening.

She said: “This was an oversized men’s suit made for a woman. Not a gown. And then I began to cry. In this suit, I felt like me today.

“I felt the truth of who I am well up in my gut. And then wondering what I wanted to say tonight become very clear to me.”
