Yahoo News Peter Kay confirms new episode of Car Share is coming to iPlayer
Car Share fans may have thought they'd seen the last of John Redmond (Peter Kay) and Kayleigh Kitson (Sian Gibson) with the BBC comedy's emotional finale episode two years ago.
And while that's sort of true, we can now look forward to hearing another instalment of car-based fun from the pair, as comedian and actor Kay has revealed that a special one-off audio episode has been recorded to cheer us all up while we're social distancing.
Confirming the news on Twitter, Kay wrote: "Car Share Returns With A Special Audio Only Episode @Sianygibby @PColemanchester and myself got together via t'internet and wrote a new short episode in an effort to try cheer people up. It's on @BBCiPlayer on Good Friday 10th April. Enjoy and #StayHomeSaveLives"
Fans have reacted with delight to the news, with one saying "thank you so much for doing this for the fans" and another adding "I am so happy! I am actually crying!"
Kay hasn't dropped any hints as to what the episode might be about, but we know that he and Gibson will be reprising their characters and we're certain that the result will be as hilarious as ever.
Plus, with the radio setting we're also hoping for some quality tunes, just like in the good-old days...
Car Share aired two series and a handful of special episodes between 2015 and 2018 and gave viewers a happy ending in its finale when John and Kayleigh got together properly.

Following the show's finale episode, Kay confirmed that there were "no plans" to bring the comedy back again, but he did add "never say never".
And Gibson also hinted that Car Share may not be done for good at the time, saying: "We just wanted to give everyone a happy ending. But without it being too cheesy, and I feel we did that. And left it open, maybe? Or maybe not! Who knows?"
The new audio episode of Car Share will be available on BBC iPlayer on Friday (April 10).
