Peter Kay may have just pretty much sold out a huge nationwide tour, but the comedian hasn't got plans to start cracking America or Australia or anything like that.

Which is just as well really, as we hear he's going to be busy over the next few years.

Anyway, the reason Peter isn't making plans to embark on any global stand-up tours is... Vimto. Kind of.

Chatting to fellow northern funnyman Jason Manford on his Absolute Radio show, Peter said that despite some of comedy's greats advising him to go to America, he's not having it.

"My entire act is through and through British. I reference everything British," he explained.

"They go, 'You should go to America'... Billy Connolly said that to me, 'You want to go to America, they'd love you', but they would not get Vimto and all that," he added.

"That's my fear, I think – [best to] stick to what you know."

Good point.

But the lack of an American Vimto equivalent isn't the only reason Peter hasn't gone global, as he also revealed he gets pretty homesick.

"You've got to just be happy with your lot," he told Jason. "How much are you going to chase your tail? I thought about it... but do I want to be stuck in Norway, on me Jack?

"They say go to Australia and I think, 'Well, I'd just go to Australia on a holiday'."

The hugely popular comedian announced his comeback to the stage after eight years last week, and was forced to add a whole host of extra dates after serious demand for tickets.

Kay has now added new dates to his tour across both his 2018 and 2019 dates, with new gigs announced in Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow and more.
