Peterhead’s beloved Simpsons Tea Room reopens under new management

A well-loved café in the heart of Peterhead has announced its grand re-opening under new management.

Local hospitality professional and Mintlaw mum, Nijole Skersienne, will be at the helm of Simpsons Tea Room, bringing fresh energy and passion to the café.

The re-opening is set for Thursday, November 21, welcoming visitors back after its closure in March to enjoy breakfast, lunch, afternoon teas, and a range of takeaway platters—all made with locally sourced ingredients.

Nijole, a successful caterer with 16 years of experience in the hospitality industry, is embracing this exciting opportunity to run her first café.

Alongside Nijole is Shannon Urquhart, who brings a decade of experience and is delighted to support Nijole on this journey.

Having previously worked together and formed a friendship, they’re excited to bring a fun and fresh approach to cafe life in Peterhead.

"I am super excited about this new venture, and I couldn’t be happier to be keeping Simpsons Tea Room open," said Nijole.

"A big thank you to Carol and Brian Simpson who have ran the cafe for the last 25 years.

"We’re looking forward to creating a welcoming space for the Peterhead community to enjoy delicious, fresh food made with local ingredients.

"Being my very first cafe I just can’t wait to get stuck in!"

The menu will feature hearty breakfasts, satisfying lunches, afternoon teas, and convenient takeaway platters.

Guests can expect great coffee as well, including the finest brews from Kilted Coffee, an artisan roaster based in Ellon.

Simpsons Tea Room will be open Monday to Saturday from 9.30am to 4pm, offering a cosy retreat for both locals and visitors to enjoy.
