Petra Ecclestone misses her £97 million mansion during lockdown as it's the 'perfect place to be isolated'

Formula 1 heiress Petra Ecclestone made headlines when she decided to sell her £97 million Los Angeles home last year, but she has now revealed that she misses the mansion during lockdown.

Ecclestone told Instagram fans she decided to sell the 56,000 square foot home, which had its own nightclub and bowling alley, because she wanted to “start fresh.”

The home, which was built by TV producer Aaron Spelling in 1988 and designed to look like a grand French chateau, is nicknamed The Manor.

Featuring 123 rooms, it was purchased by Ecclestone in 2011 for £69 million.

After an extensive renovation helmed by designer Gavin Brodin, it was later put on the market and sold for £97 million - netting her a profit of £28 million.

Speaking in an Instagram Q&A, Ecclestone was asked if she missed her former home.

She responded, “During lockdown we have. Would have been the perfect place to be isolated. That said we absolutely love our new house.”

She said she sold the house after she “was offered a great deal and wanted to start fresh. @kevindees & @santiagoarana found us the perfect family home and it all fell into place. We couldn't be happier."

In 2017, Beyonce and Jay-Z were rumoured to be interested in purchasing The Manor for £85 million.

The Manor isn’t the only multi-million property sale Ecclestone has flipped. Last year she put her £60 million Chelsea mansion on the market - marking the fourteen bed home up to £100 million.

She purchased the London home in 2012, but following her break up with her ex James Stunt she moved to Los Angeles.

Speaking to the Sunday Times, she said that a part of the reason she had decided on the cross-Atlantic move was because of "how unsafe the UK has become."

She has since settled in Los Angeles according to the Daily Mail.
