Phillip Schofield expressed his shock and dismay at the news four people had lost their lives in the horrific attack and revealed it took place not far from his place of work at the This Morning studios on Southbank.

The 54-year-old TV favourite told viewers he uses Westminster bridge everyday to drive to work and he then left them in tears when he gave a poignant speech on the terror attacks, saying: “It was a scene of tragedy, but among the harrowing images are heroes. PC Keith Palmer, who lost his life while trying to protect our democracy.

“The doctors and nurses who ran towards the carnage to help and the kindness of the passers by. They are the Britain we love, the country we know – the spirit one man tried to destroy.”
