Phillip Schofield tearful as he's 'floater free' after 'life-changing' eye surgery

Phillip Schofield has revealed he was in tears after discovering that surgery to fix his “debilitating” eye floaters had worked.

The star had been suffering with floaters for a while and previously shared on This Morning that it drove him “crazy”, but told fans last month that he'd had them "sucked out" of his left eye.

He had his other eye done this week and has now shared that it was a big success.

The star, 60, initially shared shots on Instagram of him sporting a huge bandage over his right eye and sleeping with ski goggles on to ensure he didn’t hurt it in his sleep.

But he’s now snapped a selfie with the gauze off and told his followers he is “100% floater free”.

The image appeared to show Schofe sat in a car.

“Still a very dilated right eye but 100 per cent floater free in both eyes!!!!” he said.

“For the first time in years... a beautiful clear blue sky."

"Result!” he added.

He then shared a second photo, this one of the sky overhead.

“Might have just shed a little tear as I looked up into a blemish free blue sky,” he wrote.

The presenter had previously said the floaters were “debilitating” and likened his vision to “a filthy bathroom window drifting across my eyes”.

After having his first eye done he posted a lengthy message on Instagram telling his followers that he’d had “elective limited pars plana vitrectomy surgery” and that it hadn’t hurt.

Schofield said that the floaters had “literally blighted” his eyesight and that having it fixed was “mood/mind and life changing”.
