Food photographer Yuki Sugiura has spent most of her working life capturing the elaborate culinary creations of the world's elite chefs.

So her mission to Niger, in the Sahel region of Africa, could not have stood in starker contrast.

Over seven million people across the region do not know where their next meal will come from, with 1.5 million children now acutely malnourished.

Food on the front line of climate change is a world away from the glamorous kitchens of Michelin-starred chefs.

In what is already one of the driest climates on earth, Niger could see temperatures rise by several degrees by the end of the century.

Families there are incredibly resilient, but are being forced to deal with even harsher conditions like extreme weather, poverty, conflict and growing populations.

The British Red Cross, with support from players of the People’s Postcode Lottery, is helping to break the cycle of hunger in the Sahel - by providing nutritional support, cash grants and supporting the livelihoods in the most vulnerable communities.
