Malaysia Airlines: The search to find the mysterious Flight MH370 jet reaches the fifth day

The disappearance of a Malaysian jetliner is an 'unprecedented aviation mystery', a senior official has said, with an air and sea search now in its fifth day, and has so far failed to find any confirmed trace of the plane or the 239 people aboard.

Speaking at a news conference in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday, Malaysian Transport Minister Hishammudin Hussein said the search had been extended to cover the South China Sea and Strait of Malacca.He added 12 countries were now involved in the search, with 42 ships and 39 planes deployed to cover 27,000 square miles.
