Tate Collectives: 19th century paintings with a modern twist

Here are some paintings that have undergone a very modern makeover! Works dating from the 1840s to the 1890s, and housed in Tate Britain, have been reinvented - thanks to a clutch of talented film makers and artists. The moving images you see here (popularly known as GIFS) were commissioned by the Tate Collective, a group of young artists who organise events and create their own work to accompany the programme of events at the world-famous gallery.
