Brad Kella was flooded with support as he met a childhood hero. The 23-year-old, who is originally from Bootle, has shot to stardom since he won season two of the hit Channel 4 show this summer.

Brad was raised in the care system and his inspiring story has captured the hearts of the nation. He recently signed with Liverpool-based Modern Sky and released his first single Eve and Frank, named after his foster parents.

Last week, Brad, who now lives in Fazakerley, stopped shoppers in their tracks as he performed live in Liverpool ONE to mark the shopping centre’s Christmas weekend. He performed regularly in L1 when he and his family were living in a hostel before a clip of him on the piano went viral and caught the attention of producers from The Piano.

Now the musician is preparing for his first indoor live concert at the Philharmonic Hall next week. While preparing for the show last week, the Scouser bumped into legendary music composer Danny Elfman.

The composer has provided original scores for popular films, including Spider-Man, Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands, with Brad being a particular fan of the latter.

Brad said: “At the age of 12, I remember watching Edward Scissorhands and wondering who was behind such beautiful music and that’s when I discovered Danny Elfman. I didn’t realise he was a part of so many massive movies that I grew up watching and I was inspired to reach those levels when I started composing myself.

“After finally meeting the legend and speaking to him, I feel like I’m on the right path to get where I have dreamt about for so long. It was a day I’ll never forget and I hope and pray me and Danny Elfman can work together one day in something huge!

“This is all making me so much more excited for my home show, which is just around the corner. It’s going to be an honour to play at a sold out Liverpool Philharmonic Hall and I can’t wait to show Liverpool what a normal lad from the city can achieve with hard work and sheer dedication.”

Brad’s show will take place next Friday, November 29 at the Philharmonic Hall on Hope Street. Brad's career continues to go from strength-to-strength as he also announced earlier this month that he is part of the John Lewis Christmas campaign.
