Pick for Britain: Prince Charles Backs Campaign to Recruit Crop Pickers

Prince Charles has called on the British public to help farmers harvest fruit and vegetables that might otherwise go to waste due to a lack of workers during the pandemic.

The Pick for Britain campaign, backed by the government, urges unemployed and furloughed workers to help ensure “the UK can continue to deliver the best quality British fruit & veg for everyone to enjoy.”

In a video message, Charles compares the initiative to the “great movement” of the Land Army during the Second World War. He urges those who are committed and able to make a “vital contribution to the national effort”.
