'It's Picking Up': Hurricane Olaf Makes Landfall in Baja California

Parts of Mexico’s Baja California Sur were placed under a warning as Hurricane Olaf made landfall on the state’s southern coastline on Thursday, September 9.

This footage filmed by Twitter user @justAmyB shows strong winds and rain hitting a resort in Cabo San Lucas.

Olaf made landfall in nearby San Jose del Cabo at around 9 pm local time with estimated maximum sustained winds of 100 mph, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) said.

The NHC also warned of “life-threatening flash flooding and mudslides” as Olaf traveled north on Friday. Credit: @justAmyB via Storyful
