Pickup Truck With Trailer Rams Through Tulsa Black Lives Matter Protest

The driver of a pickup truck and trailer rammed through a crowd of Black Lives Matter protesters in Tulsa, Oklahoma, who had congregated on Interstate 244 on May 31.

The protest was sparked by George Floyd’s death in Minneapolis last week, but also marked the 99th anniversary of the Tulsa Race Massacre.

In the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre, widely cited as “the single worst incident of racial violence in American history,” a mob of white residents attacked black residents and businesses in the Greenwood district of the city, burning many buildings to the ground.

James Spicer captured footage of the pickup truck incident in the Greenwood area before posting it on his Facebook page. In the description accompanying the footage, he said, “I can’t believe what I filmed.”

According to local station KJRH, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol took the driver in for questioning after the incident. Credit: James Spicer via Storyful
