The world’s biggest cruise ship – that features a full-sized basketball court and ice rink – is preparing to set sail on its maiden voyage.

Also taking the title of the most expensive cruise ship in the world, Royal Caribbean’s ‘Symphony of the Seas’ also features a casino, miniature golf course and a zip-wire.

Currently docked in Malaga, Spain, the vast ship will launch on 31 March and take its first paying passengers in April.

Weighing a staggering 228,000 tonnes, the 1,188 feet long ship is only 20 metres shorter than the Empire State Building in New York.

The £959m vessel was built at a shipyard in Saint Nazaire, France, and houses 20 restaurants and over six bars – including one with bartending robots.

Symphony of the Seas will call at ports in Spain, France and Italy as it begins the summer season.
