Pierce Brosnan 'distressed' over 'deceptive' use of his image on product linked to cancer
Pierce Brosnan has revealed his unhappiness after he was misled to advertise a product, which is claimed to be linked to cancer, by being told it was mouth freshener.
The ad was released in India for Pan Bahar, a product which is made from nuts, seeds, herbs and spices which is to be chewed and is considered addictive. The advert of the 63-year-old actor posing with Pan Bahar sparked outrage from the public, who quickly criticised the star for endorsing the unhealthy product.

In a statement to People magazine, the James Bond actor apologised for appearing in the ad and called the use of his image "unauthorised and deceptive", and has reportedly requested his image be removed from all of the advertisements.
"As a man who has spent decades championing women’s healthcare and environmental protection, I was distressed to learn of Pan Bahar's unauthorised and deceptive use of my image to endorse their range of pan masala products," he wrote.
"I would never have entered into an agreement to promote a product in India that is dangerous to one's health."
He also spoke about his own experiences after losing his first wife, Cassandra Harris and his daughter Charlotte to cancer, writing: "Having endured, in my own personal life, the loss of my first wife and daughter as well as numerous friends to cancer, I am fully committed to supporting women's healthcare and research programs that improve human health and alleviate suffering… I shall endeavour to rectify this matter.
"In the meantime, please accept my sincerest and heartfelt apologies to all whom I have offended."
The star has previously opened to losing his wife and daughter to cancer during a Stand Up To Cancer telecast back in 2014. He said: "To watch someone you love have his or her life eaten away bit by bit by this insidious disease, that part of your sorrow becomes an indelible part of your psyche."
