Pierce Brosnan has been granted an emergency restraining order against a stalker in Malibu, California.

In court documents, the James Bond actor says a 55-year-old woman has been allegedly living outside of his home in a car and is "stalking me and my family."

Brosnan previously called the police twice on the woman but officers were unable to arrest her for staying outside of his house.

In the court documents, Brosnan claims: “She originally said she was looking for Dick Van Dyke (she has a tattoo of him on her arm) but when she found me and my family, she stayed in front of our house. She gave me two odd notes, said she needed $1,500 for new tires, and gave me a drawing she did of me.”

A judge has ordered the woman to stay at least 400 yards away from Brosnan and his family as well as their home or any school or workplace they may attend.

A further court hearing is scheduled for later this month with a view to extending the restraining order.

Brosnan, who played James Bond between 1995 and 2002, recently said he wasn't interested in who would replace Daniel Craig as the MI6 agent.

Speaking to GQ, the Irish actor said: “Who should do it? I don’t care. It’ll be interesting to see who they get, who the man shall be. Whoever he be, I wish him well.”

As well as his performances in four James Bond films – Goldeneye, Tomorrow Never Dies, The World is Not Enough and Die Another Day – Brosnan is also best known for his roles in Remington Steele, The Thomas Crown Affair and The Ghost Writer.
