We all know Sharon Osbourne occasionally lets an expletive escape her mouth, but she may have set a new record as Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan was forced to apologise to viewers after she swore live on air – just three minutes into her appearance.
The unfortunate scene happened within half an hour of the show starting, with Sharon and daughter Kelly appearing as guests.
Sharon was heard to say “Such a f*****g…” at 6.25am, during a segment relating to last night’s Oscars ceremony and Parasite director Bong Joon-ho.
Shortly afterwards, host Morgan addressed viewers and said: “We just have to make an immediate and early apology for some profanity that may have been heard earlier.”
A mortified Sharon looked on as daughter Kelly burst out laughing.
Morgan continued: “You’ll be unsurprised to hear that Sharon Osbourne, it took her… well, it’s 27 minutes into the show, three minutes into Sharon Osbourne’s appearance on the programme, and we’ve already got to air a formal apology.
“Sharon, we’ve got to try and get through the next two and a half hours, without being taken off air! So if you could somehow….”
Sharon said: “I will apologise. I am so sorry because I didn’t know I was on air, and I was repeating something that director Bong had said to me earlier, in English!”
Morgan responded: “Why do I think this apology is going to make things worse?”
Parasite was a big winner at the 92nd Academy Awards, taking home four Oscars, including for Best Motion Picture of the Year and Best International Feature Film.
