Piers Morgan continues to make controversy in the wake of the Manchester Arena bombing, this time singling out Ariana Grande for criticism.

Ariana had just wrapped up a stop on her 'Dangerous Woman Tour' on Monday night (May 22) when a suspected suicide bomber detonated an explosive device outside Manchester Arena, killing 22.

The 23-year-old tweeted shortly thereafter that she felt "broken" by the attack. She'd arrive back in the US on Tuesday and subsequently postpone several dates on her European tour.

That - according to Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan - was not the correct response to the violent incident that has rocked the world and Piers was keen to make that point clear.

He actually responded to Katy Perry's photo of The Queen visiting young survivors of the bombing, to argue: "Might have been nice if @ArianaGrande had stayed to do the same."

As expected, Piers fiercely fought his corner when many, many Twitter users pointed out that his argument could very easily be seen as highly insensitive.

When one person argued that Ariana was "probably traumatised herself", Piers countered: "Probably not as much as those killed & wounded. She should have stayed to visit her injured fans."

Another called for him to be fired from Good Morning Britain, and yet again Piers wouldn't back down: "Your fans get murdered & maimed at your concert, I think you should stay, visit & comfort."

Piers even had an answer ready when he was asked how he'd respond if he'd been hosting an event where an attack put his life in danger.

"I can 100% guarantee you I would stay & visit those who had been killed or wounded watching me perform," he tweeted.

All week long, Piers has been caught in a series of controversies related to the Manchester attack. First he was condemned for a combative interview with Coronation Street stars and later clashed with singer Charlotte Church on social media over how to prevent terrorism.

Then on Wednesday (May 24), Good Morning Britain guest Julia Hartley-Brewer told him off live on air for arguing that Muslims in the UK aren't taking the necessary steps to oppose terrorism.
