Piers Morgan dismisses gender identity pronouns asking if he can identify as 'a d***head'

Piers Morgan has dismissed gender identity as "bulls***" asking if he may choose to identify as a "d***head".

The 57-year-old TV presenter discussed gender politics with US comedian Bill Maher for his podcast as they sipped tequila and said the logical extension of respecting gender pronouns would be for him to choose whatever he wanted.

Morgan told Club Random with Bill Maher: "I just find myself constantly feeling, what is going on with the world? Like, I just saw in the UK today there was a thing about the fire service or something, they’re being ordered now to use him/her/them/their pronouns. Whatever.

"I said, 'Okay, well fine, let’s take this to the logical extension because pronouns are whatever you want to be right?' So if I decide I want to identify myself as a d***head, which many people watching this might think is entirely…”

Maher interrupted: “You know why they’re going to think you’re a d***head is because of the way you said those pronouns. You dismissed it.”

Morgan continued with an example of a debate he had on Good Morning Britain before he left the ITV show about a BBC educational video that said there were over 100 genders.

The former America's Got Talent judge said: "One was astro gender, [which] is an affinity with the stars and the moon. I’m very happy if you identify as astro gender. If you have an affinity with the stars and the moon, good luck to you, my friend.

"Let me just get this straight because I’m a logical, thinking person. I think, does that mean then that I can basically identify as anything I want? And they said, 'Absolutely'.

“So I said I’d like to identify right now as a two-spirit penguin.

“There was a long silence and then the inevitable response was, ‘That’s completely offensive, how dare you!’

"I said, 'You’re sitting here [saying] there’s a hundred genders, I can go out and say I have an affinity as a gender to the stars and the celestial galaxy, but the moment I say I’m a penguin, that apparently is the bar you can’t cross.

"In other words it's all bulls***.”

Morgan also lamented the decline of the British 'stiff upper lip' and said he felt weakness was now celebrated in society.

He said: "It's pathetic. We've become a world where it is now a premium to be a victim, it is celebrated to be weak...

"There is a weird cultural phenomenon where it is almost frowned upon to be a winner.

"If you now quit, if you give up and embrace this new phenomenon of 'I've got mental health issues' whatever the real reason maybe and I'm not doubting the veracity, but you now get celebrated more than if you win. And I have a problem with that.

"Everybody wants to be a victim... Eventually weakness gets celebrated more than strength. There is something pathetic about it."

He added: "I've always prided myself on having a stiff upper lip."

The former tabloid editor and US Celebrity Apprentice contestant is about to launch his new chat show Piers Morgan Uncensored, which will air on new global channel talkTV from Rupert Murdoch's News Corp.

Morgan left ITV's GMB in March last year after sparking a record number of complaints by saying he did not believe claims made by Meghan Markle about her mental health in an interview with Oprah Winfrey.
