Piers Morgan condemns 'hideously inappropriate' Met Gala amid Ukraine crisis
Piers Morgan has made his feelings about the 2022 Met Gala clear after he slammed the 'tone-deaf' event and its attendants, claiming that it was 'hideously inappropriate' for the fundraiser to take place amid the ongoing war in Ukraine.
The former Good Morning Britain host took to Twitter to hit out at the annual ceremony which was held in New York on Monday 3 May.
This year's theme of Gilded Glamour and White Tie saw the likes of Kim Kardashian posing in Marilyn Monroe’s iconic gold dress and Morgan was immediately unimpressed.
“This year’s ‘gilded theme’ Met Gala, held amid the backdrop of war, pandemic and ruinous inflation, is the most tone-deaf, self-indulgent, narcissistic, hideously inappropriate ‘let them eat cake!’ orgy of vain-glorious celebrity bullsh*t in modern history," the 57-year-old stated.

The outspoken TV presenter also took specific aim at the Kardashian-Jenner clan as he claimed that 'fashion is dead' while sharing a video of the famous sisters arriving on the red carpet of the prestigious annual event.
It marked the first time that all of the sisters were invited to attend after Khloe and Kourtney had previously failed to make the cut.
This year's Gilded Glamour and White Tie theme was the second part of a two-part series after it reopened following the pandemic.
The first part of the exhibition was called In America: A Lexicon of Fashion, which celebrated all things American Fashion.
Meanwhile, the TV host made his return to international screens last month with his new talk show Piers Morgan Uncensored, with his first guest being the former US President Donald Trump.
The show, which aired on the new Rupert Murdoch-owned network TalkTV, reportedly brought in an average audience of 317,000 and peaked at around 400,000, beating the numbers of rivals BBC News and Sky News.

However, according to Deadline, the second episode was viewed by an average of 216,000 people.
This was still more than the viewing figures for BBC News and Sky News, but substantially less than Monday’s premiere, which averaged 317,000 viewers.
