Piers Morgan Hits Back At Petition To Have Him Fired From Good Morning Britain

Piers Morgan has responded to a petition calling for him to be fired from Good Morning Britain.

ITV viewer Abigail Pedrick launched the campaign – aptly titled ‘Calling for Piers Morgan to be sacked from GMB’ – to rid the breakfast show of the controversial presenter.

In the petition that has amassed more than 1,000 signatures, the mother-of-two explains that she is tired of the journalist’s “sexist and misogynistic” attitude and accuses him of “belittling” his co-host Susanna Reid.

The Change.org document reads: “For a lighthearted TV programme, his constant belittling of his female co-workers is EXTREMELY uncomfortable to watch.”

It’s safe to say that Piers, 51, is well-practiced in the art of ruffling feathers, and the often-smug broadcaster seemed to relish the fact that the proposal had been put forward.

“As of yesterday, the petition had 530 supporters. Now, the UK has a population of around 65 million,” he told his GMB co-workers today (July 27). “I guess this means that 64,999,470 people have refused to sign it.”

He continued: “The people have spoken. I am staying! I am going off for a few weeks over the summer but I will be back September 5th as the public have demanded.

“Abigail, you have failed in your mission to get me sacked. I will not be sacked. Not for that anyway!”

Piers’ co-presenter Susanna, 45, then quipped: “Only you could find a positive in something like this.”

True – but we would be inclined to believe that Piers’ glass-half-full attitude derives from experience, especially after 150,000 people signed a petition to have him deported from the US during his stint on CNN.

Good Morning Britain returns to ITV tomorrow at 6am.
