Piers Morgan isn't happy after being dissed on Corrie
Piers Morgan got a mention on Coronation Streetlast week.
The comment came as Pat Phelan returned to Eileen Grimshaw's house with a rubbish bag full of charred clothes – the very same clothes he was wearing when he killed Luke Britton (Dean Fagan).
Despite the dark nature of Pat's entry to the house, Eileen couldn't help but complain after he slammed the door on his way inside.
"I get enough of a headache from Piers Morgan, never mind him," Eileen moaned, in reference to Phelan.
On today's (January 15) episode of Good Morning Britain, Piers decided to address the fleeting mention.
"Now, I couldn't understand where this impromptu, unprovoked attack had come from by a major Coronation Street star," he joked.
He then quipped that showbiz guru Richard Arnold was undoubtedly to blame for his unpopularity on the cobbles.
"A little part of my brain took me to, oh yes, that's right, Sue Cleaver the actress that plays her, she's your best friend! Isn't she?" Piers asked.
Richard then started laughing, but insisted their friendship was not behind Piers' mention on Corrie. If anything, he confessed he was a tad jealous.
"Yes, she is one of my best friends," Richard said. "If only I had that clout! I have as much clout on the Coronation Street writers as I do on this show!
"I'm furious. 23 years I've been carrying that woman and not so much as a mention on the Cobbles – one of my favourite shows of all time, and you get the mention!"
While Richard had a case of the green-eyed monster, Piers went on to reveal that not only was he not too pleased, his grandmother would have been even less happy with his mention on Corrie.
He added: "My grandmother loved Coronation Street, and would have absolutely loved me being mentioned – but then when she heard the mention, she would have come after you!"
Poor Richard! Somehow, we really don't think he's to blame for this one, Piers...
