Piers Morgan left red-faced as he gets shown up by schoolboy who holds record for Pi to 258 decimal places

Piers Morgan was left stunned after he butchered Pi in front of Britain’s 10-year-old record holder, who broke his own record by reciting it to 258 decimal places.

The Good Morning Britain presenter attempted to brag to schoolboy Charley Thomas by claiming he knew the formula to three decimal places.

After quizzing Thomas on what Pi is, the circumference of a circle, Morgan said: “I knew that, obviously. When I was in school I could do it to about three or four decimal places. It’s 3.157…is it?”

A grimacing Thomas looked awkward as Morgan’s co-host Susanna Reid corrected him: “Nope its 3.14. Thing is Charley I don’t know why we’re telling you this.”

Morgan was left speechless as Reid moved on to praising the youngster on his incredible knowledge.

Thomas went on the show having broken the record as the youngest Brit to recite Pi to 220 decimal places.

Shortly after Morgan’s gaffe, he broke his own record by reciting it to a staggering 258 decimal places live on air.

“I’ve got to say that is one of the most extraordinary things I have ever witnessed on Good Morning Britain, in fact on any television show. You are the young Einstein,” Morgan said.

However the praise was short lived after the show host mocked Thomas for supporting Manchester City, telling Thomas he’s “not that clever then”.

During Tuesday’s show Morgan raised eyebrows after he claimed he “identifies as Sam Smith” in a bid to claim the singer’s royalties.

He criticised Smith after the singer revealed he is non-binary after feeling he neither identifies with being male or female.

Morgan went on to add that he thinks it is a “generational thing”.
