Documentary footage dating back to 2003 in which Piers Morgan can be seen talking to Charlotte Church about phone hacking will be broadcast tonight on Channel 4.

In the clip, Morgan - who was, at the time, the editor of the Daily Mirror - tells the singer about the poor security of mobile phones and insists that celebrities must change their PIN numbers if they want to avoid being hacked.

He says: "There was a spate of stories that came out because of mobile phones. When they first came out, mobile phones, journalists found out that if the celebrity hadn't changed their PIN code, you can access their voicemail just by tapping in a number.

"Are you really telling me that journalists aren't going to do that? If they know they can ring up Charlotte Church's mobile phone, listen to all her messages."

The scene will air as part of Hugh Grant: Taking On The Tabloids, a one-off doc due to air this evening (November 28) at 8pm on Channel 4.

The broadcast comes on the eve of the publication of the Leveson report.
