Piers Morgan slams Ariana Grande for not visiting victims of Manchester terror attack

Piers Morgan has hit out at Ariana Grande for flying back to the US straight after the suicide bombing at her concert.

The controversial TV star, 52, said Grande should have remained in the UK and visited those who were wounded in the terror attack.

Twenty two people were killed and dozens injured after Salman Abedi detonated an explosive at Manchester Arena on Monday night.

Morgan praised the Queen for visiting young victims at the Royal Manchester children’s hospital on Thursday, and condemned Grande for not doing the same.

In response to Katy Perry praising the monarch’s “kind heart”, Morgan tweeted: “Agreed. Might have been nice if @ArianaGrande had stayed to do the same.”

He added: “I expected her to stay, visit and comfort her wounded fans and relatives of those who died.”

Morgan said it “struck [him] as odd” that the Queen would visit the wounded over Grande, who everyone had paid to see at the gig, and claimed he would have “100 per cent” stayed in the UK.

He faced a fierce backlash from his followers who pointed out that Grande most likely found it too traumatic to visit the victims.

Others accused him of hypocrisy and pointed out that he wasn’t present at the inquiry into the Daily Mirror's alleged phone hacking, to which he replied: “That was purely because my daughter was born 2 weeks before so we couldn't fly home.”

Grande told fans she has been left “broken” by the attack.

The US pop superstar, who was unhurt, tweeted: “Broken. From the bottom of my heart, I am so sorry.

“I don't have the words.”

Grande was performing as part of her Dangerous Woman tour. She was set to play London's O2 Arena on Thursday and Friday, but cancelled in the wake of the tragedy.

She later cancelled a string of European dates into June in order to pay her “proper respects to those lost”.

Grande also released a joint statement with her manager Scooter Braun, telling fans they will ‘never let evil win’.
