Yahoo News Piers Morgan slams Kirstie Allsopp over 'cretinous' COVID and kids tweets
Piers Morgan has blasted Kirstie Allsopp’s Twitter rant about scaremongering kids over COVID-19 as ‘cretinous’.
The outspoken Good Morning Britain host branded property expert Allsopp the person he “least wanted to hear from” about coronavirus.
His brutal remarks came after Location, Location, Location star Allsopp aired her disappointment in the BBC for a tweet from Radio 5 Live about children being admitted to hospital in greater numbers, which she claimed was “a lie”.
The story was based on an interview with hospital staff where a nurse spoke about the children on her ward in a London hospital.
She then wrote: “Covid is a horrible disease but it is very, very, very rare for it to impact children. They are still at far more danger from journeys in cars, or swimming, or trampolining than Covid. Please do not let anyone persuade you otherwise.”

It sparked a fierce debate between those who agreed with Allsopp and those who thought she’d missed the point about the role children play in transmitting the virus.
Morgan held nothing back as he tweeted: “Of all the people I least want to hear from when it comes to expert advice on coronavirus, TV estate agent Kirstie Allsopp and her cretinous trampoline analogies are top of the list.”

As many people came forward to argue with Allsopp about school closures and children passing on the virus at home, the property guru replied: “God help this generation of kids who are so loathed and feared.”
She also added that she was supportive of teachers, but thought that reports about the effect of coronavirus on children were irresponsible.

Allsopp drew the argument to a close by tweeting: “Call me when the BBC Twitter accounts have stopped using this platform to frighten parents, grandparents and children.
“Until then this is no place for me. Covid is a horrible disease, to control it we have to accept all sorts of limitations, but scaring kids is unacceptable.”
Yahoo has contacted Kirstie Allsop’s representatives for a response.
Morgan has previously called out actor Laurence Fox on his tweets about ignoring lockdown guidelines to host a large lunch party at home.
He also had some harsh words for singer Rita Ora after she organised her 30th birthday party during the second lockdown, at the same time breaking quarantining rules after returning from a work trip she had taken to Egypt.
