Piers Morgan threatened to QUIT GMB over early starts

Piers Morgan is back on morning telly and just can’t seem to stay out of the headlines.

Piers had spent some time away from presenting GMB over the half-term and was temporarily replaced by Jeremy Kyle, but now it has emerged that he resigned from the daily programme because he wasn’t happy about starting work so early.

‘I quit because I had to get up early,’ Morgan said on this morning’s show..

Charlotte Hawkins, 42, reminded him that it was ‘kind of in the job description for a breakfast presenter.’

To which he replied: ‘Not really, no. I was getting up at 3.45am, decided I hated it because it was killing me, so I said “I’m out” and suddenly I’m coming in at 5.30am and I’m a lot happier, thanks.’

But the news was fresh information to Susanna Reid as she spoke up about how surprised she was. ‘I don’t understand. Why does it say you quit GMB? When did you quit GMB?’

Piers giggled back at her: ‘I didn’t know how to tell you. I knew how upset you would be.’

To which Susanna then feigned upset with: ‘Oh, look how sad I am.’

The news emerged in an interview with the Radio Times, in which Piers said: ‘I actually quit in the summer. I said, “I’m out,” because I couldn’t do it any more. Then we came to a new arrangement, which is great. I feel completely different.

‘The only reason, really, I had to go in so early was because the female stars all have to. It takes them longer [to get ready] because they get more attention and pressure on how they look, how their hair is and everything else.’

‘I’m lucky – five minutes of slap and on I go… I said, ‘Does anyone really care if I come in at 5.30 and we just have a catch-up on the phone?’ Which is what we now do.’

Having presented the show alongside Susanna since 2015, it appears the divisive Piers, who has previously been crowned Villain of the Year ahead of Katie Hopkins, is going nowhere.
