Piers Morgan's sons want him 'off TV' as he makes shock return to ITV

Piers Morgan made an epic return to ITV, appearing alongside Scottish legend Lorraine Kelly. The pair spoke about all things Donald Trump as he stepped into his role as President of the United States of America.

The 59-year-old was once a news anchor on Good Morning Britain before he stormed off set and never returned after a heated debate over Meghan Markle broke out on air.

On Tuesday (January 21), he made a surprise return to ITV alongside Lorraine, and the pair chatted freely about their future on television.

At the time of the discussion, they'd been talking about Donald Trump's son Barron, whom he shares with First Lady Melania Trump.

Barron had advised his famous father to move his presidential campaign to YouTube instead of TV. Piers explained that this move actually proved "pivotal" in securing Donald's win.

The TV newsreader hailed Donald's son, telling Lorraine how Barron stepped in early to advise his dad to attempt to conquer the internet instead of TV.

Speaking about Barron's efforts, Piers revealed his offspring had encouraged him to step away from working with broadcasting giants and follow suit by switching to YouTube.

Speaking of Barron, Piers said: "He knew, rather like my sons, who have told me 'Dad, you old dinosaur, get off TV. No one my age is watching TV,' which they are not.

"But they are watching it through the prism of Youtube, so there's a future Lorraine, for us. For us old TV dinosaurs."

It was at this point that he went on to address his own future on-screen, along with Lorraine's career too, adding: "The future is not going to be the same way that we in our generation, you know, we just flicked on network telly and watched it... the network bosses here won't like me saying that... but get with the programme."

He continued: "Actually young people watch this kind of content in a different way."

Nodding, the host replied: "They do agreed," but stated: "They're still watching the content they're just watching it in a different way."

Lorraine airs weekdays on ITV, from 9am.
