Piers refused entry to GMB studio by new security staff

Piers Morgan is not a happy bunny with security at the new Good Morning Britain studios.

The presenter revealed on the show today (April 25) that when he tried to get into the building last week, he was stopped by staff who did not recognise him.

Despite him attempting to explain who he was, his name meant nothing to the workers who refused him entry.

"He had a clipboard, he said 'Who are you? I said, 'I'm Piers' – but he had no idea who that was or what I should be doing here," the host revealed.

"You know, 'Why would you be at the Good Morning Britain studios?'"

Piers then admitted it was a "very uncomfortable moment" as he shared the story with his co-hosts.

However, it's not just Mr Morgan who's been given trouble by security working on the door.

Alex Beresford was also locked out of the building this morning because his security pass wasn't working.

Susanna Reid revealed she had to go to the front of the building herself to let the weather presenter in after security locked him out.

"My pass just wouldn't work," Alex admitted. "I don't why. We need to sort that out security!"

Despite his own experience, Piers of course took the opportunity to poke fun at his pal over the incident.

Suggesting this is how the conversation with security must have unfolded, he joked: "'Who are you?' 'I'm TV's Alex Beresford.' 'Yes, who are you?' 'I came fifth on the dance show on ice. I did the tour!

"Anyway, once the security guys don't recognise you it's an awful moment – as somebody who only arrived here at the studios three days myself to be asked who I was. It was a very uncomfortable moment!"

Good Morning Britain is on ITV, weekdays at 6am.
