A pilot involved in a helicopter crash near Aldborough in North Yorkshire has died.

The crash was reported at around 1.25pm, with police, fire and rescue service and ambulance rushing to the scene.

There were no other passengers, North Yorkshire police have said.

“A number of fire engines from Boroughbridge, Knaresborough, Harrogate and Ripon are in attendance, and are using hose reels to dampen down the scene,” a spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said.

“North Yorkshire Police and Yorkshire Ambulance Service are also in attendance.

“We are unable to confirm details about casualties at this time,” he added.

A spokesman for the Air Accidents Investigation Branch said inspectors have been to the scene to investigate the incident.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said on Twitter they have now left the scene.
