Pink at the Brits: Pop star's 'beautiful' performance with Bastille singer Dan Smith steals show

Pink left fans shocked after she brought on Bastille frontman Dan Smith for a collaboration as part of an epic medley of her hits at the 2019 Brit Awards.

The American singing sensation, who bagged the Outstanding Contribution to Music gong, left viewers stunned after she welcomed Smith on-stage for a duet to 2012 hit Try.

Fans couldn’t help but gush over the performance, hailing it “beautiful.” One user wrote: “Dan from bastille and Pink? That’s all I need in a song.”

Another commented: “Pink and Dan Smith though!”

A third added: “Dan from Bastille and Pink, a beautiful collab.”

The star performed a showcase of hits across her 24-year career including, What About Us and Just Give Me a Reason.

Earlier on in the night, the singer was left emotional as she accepted the coveted gong, which recognised her career achievements throughout the years.

She said: "It's been an amazing journey, from busking on the street, to playing Dingwalls, to playing Wembley Stadium."

Other stars that saw big success on Wednesday evening included The 1975 and Jorja Smith, who each took home two prizes.

The 1975 were also praised on their powerful speech tackling the issues around misogyny in the music industry.

Lead singer Matty Healy, 29, quoted a friend of the band music journalist Laura Snapes’ thoughts on misogyny as part of his speech, whilst asking viewers to "really, really think about" her words.

An emotional Healy said: "I just want you to listen to me for one sec. I just thought you should all really, really think about it.

"A friend of ours, Laura Snapes, said this: In music male misogyny acts are examined for nuance and defended as traits of difficult artists, and those who [criticise] them as hysterical people who don't understand art."
