Pint-sized petrolheads: Car dealer sells mini Aston Martins for kids (but they still cost £16,000)

Normally it would take one hell of a haggle to buy an Aston Martin for £16,000.

But one car dealer has made the luxury motor available for the bargain price.

The only catch is that the iconic car has been scaled down to a pint-sized motor designed for children.

Car dealer Nicholas Mee normally sells classic Aston Martins for in excess of £1 million.

But he is looking to the future by getting children hooked on the iconic car before they're old enough to drive.

The dealer is selling fully functioning, petrol-engined Aston Martin-inspired convertibles for children aged ten or over.

Looking like a classic 1960s Aston Martin convertible, the 'DB Junior' has leather seats and a wood-rimmed steering wheel.

It is powered by a 110cc, four stroke engine which gives the pocket rocket a top speed of 46mph.

The intricately engineered DB Junior also has a set of Brembo disc brakes, a three-speed gearbox and and key-operated electric start.

But it comes at a price, with a starting price of £16,500 - the same as a Ford Fiesta ST hot hatch.

However, its is considerably cheaper than a fully-sized Aston Martin DB6 Convertible, which the dealership is currently selling for £535,000.

Despite their size, the cars can seat people up to six-feet tall and have working lights, horn and indicators.

Nicholas Mee, managing director, said: 'When we first saw the DB Junior we couldn't stop smiling.

'We then realised that these scaled-down 1960s convertibles would complement full-sized offerings here in our showrooms.

'What's more, we regularly have enquiries from our clients looking for something unusual and different to add to their collection of classics.

'You'd be surprised how well the DB Junior is engineered, and how much room there is in the cockpit.

'It's big enough for an adult and the pedals can be adjusted so that the DB Junior will fit a wide range of drivers. Let's say junior drivers of all ages'
