Pippa Middleton 'overjoyed' as she is 'pregnant with her first child'

Pippa Middleton is pregnant with her first child, according to reports.

She is said to be overjoyed at the news that she is due to have a baby with financier husband James Matthews, 42.

The Duchess of Cambridge's younger sister, 34, told her family and friends last week after her 12-week scan, the Sun on Sunday reported.

A friend told the paper the Duchess of Cambridge "could not have been more delighted" with the news.

Kate is due to give birth herself to her third child within days.

"When Pippa found out she was pregnant, she was obviously thrilled and utterly overjoyed," a friend told the Sun on Sunday.

"Naturally, big sister Kate and parents, Carole and Michael, were the first people she told — James aside — and they could not have been more delighted."

The news came after James's father, 74-year-old David, was reportedly facing investigation by police in France over an allegation of the rape of a minor.

"It’s been a tough few weeks for the two families, so this has provided some much-needed happiness and light relief," the friend added.

The baby is said to be due in October.
