Pippa Middleton gives birth to her first child

Pippa Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge's sister, has given birth to her first child, a boy.

A family spokeswoman said: "James and Pippa have had a baby boy.

"He was born Monday 15th October at 1.58pm, weighing 8lb and 9oz.

"Everyone is delighted and mother and baby are doing well."

Kensington Palace said in a short statement: "The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are thrilled for Pippa and James."

The baby will be a cousin to William and Kate's three children - George, five, Charlotte, three, and five-month-old Louis.

The birth is believed to have taken place at the private maternity wing of St Mary's hospital in London - where the Duchess of Cambridge had her children.

Pippa Middleton, 35, married hedge fund manager James Matthews last year.

His brother is former Made in Chelsea star Spencer Matthews.

The birth comes a few days after the Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry announced they too are expecting their first child.
