Pippa Middleton Supports Sister Kate at Her Annual Christmas Carol Service

Tonight marked Kate Middleton's fourth annual Christmas Carol, and several family members on both sides were in attendance to rally around her after a very trying year.

The Princess of Wales's younger sister, Pippa Middleton, arrived at Westminster Abbey wearing a black tweed button down dress. Similar to Kate, Pippa stuck with the red theme of the evening, accessorizing her look with a crimson velvet clutch and matching pumps.

Pippa and Kate's parents Carole and Michael Middleton were also there, as was her brother, James Middleton.

Formally known as the "Together at Christmas," Kate's beloved holiday tradition provided guests with "a moment to reflect upon the importance of love and empathy, and how much we need each other, especially in the most difficult times of our lives," Kensington Palace shared.

This year's service was particularly meaningful for Kate as she underwent preventative chemotherapy following a cancer diagnosis. She announced that she had completed the treatment in September and has since been slowly making more appearances.

The palace noted that the Princess of Wales "wanted to celebrate the many people supporting those in need – individuals who have inspired, counselled, comforted, and above all else shown that love is the greatest gift we can receive. This theme takes inspiration from the Christmas story which encourages us to consider the experiences of others and the important human need of giving and receiving empathy."

Additionally, each attendee received a letter from Kate about how Christmas is one of her favorite times of the year. “It is a time for celebration and joy, but it also gives us the opportunity to slow down and reflect on the deeper things that connect us all,” she wrote. “It is when we stop and take ourselves away from the pressures of daily life, that we find the space to live our lives with an open heart, with love, kindness and forgiveness - so much of what the Christmas spirit is all about.”

As in years past, the "Together at Christmas" carol service will to air on ITV1 and ITVX on Christmas Eve.
