Pittsburgh Panthers Honor Damar Hamlin During Basketball Game

Tributes to NFL star Damar Hamlin poured in from across the United States after the 24-year-old Buffalo Bills safety collapsed during a game against the Cincinnati Bengals on January 2.

Footage captured by George Michalowski shows Hamlin’s image on display amid applause during a basketball game between the University of Pittsburgh Panthers and University of Virginia Cavaliers in the Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh on Tuesday night.

Hamlin is a native of Pittsburgh and played football for the University of Pittsburgh from 2016 to 2020.

On the same night, the Buffalo Sabres hockey team wore “Love for 3” T-shirts before their game and dedicated their win to Hamlin, who wears that number.

The football player remained in critical condition at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, according to the Bills.

On Wednesday afternoon, local media reported that a spokesman for Hamlin’s family said his health was moving in “a positive direction.” Credit: George Michalowski via Storyful
