Pixar have just announced the next film in the works from the animation studio – and the cast will reunite two Avengers.

Chris Pratt and Tom Holland will lend their voice talents to Onward, where they'll play two teenage elf brothers who go on a journey to discover if magic still exists.

Onward will be directed by Monsters University's Dean Scanlon and it's set to hit theatres on March 6, 2020. Also cast are Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Octavia Spencer.

The film was first announced at Disney's D23 convention last year under the working title Suburban Fantasy World. At the time, Scanlon said the film was “a mix of the fantastic and the everyday” with “elves, sprites and pretty much anything that would be on the side of a van in the ’70s".

In a statement on Wednesday (December 12), Scanlon revealed that he drew inspiration from his own childhood.

“At Pixar we try to create stories that come from some kind of personal truth,” Scanlon said. “This film was inspired by my own relationship with my brother.”

Producer Kori Rae added that Pratt "brings equal parts huge heart and fantastic humour to his character", while Holland "has an infectious charm and sincerity that makes you root for him in every character he plays".

Pixar's next release will be Toy Story 4 which hits UK and US cinemas on June 21, 2019.
