Remember the all-you-can-eat buffet at Pizza Hut?

Well, it might be back.

The fast food retailer has bought out the struggling Eagle Boys chain in Australia and is reportedly looking to re-introduce its dine-in restaurants – along with the all-you-can-eat buffets.

For those of you who don’t remember, Pizza Hut’s buffets used to offer all-you-can-eat pizza, along with a salad and pasta bar and dessert station, all for a pretty reasonable price.

But in later years it shifted from offering a dine-in experience to focusing more on delivery services. Now – in Australia at least – it looks like it’s going back to basics.

Pizza Hut’s new boss Lisa Ransom told news.com.au: “We are looking at ways to do things differently. We get a lot of demand for dine-in restaurants and we’ll absolutely be looking at those opportunities moving forward.”

Ms Ransom, one of three former McDonald’s executives brought on by private equity firm Allegro to steer the company into 2017, said the new team was focused on working out what Pizza Hut customers wanted.

Ms Ransom added: “There’s a lot of passion from customers to bring back the restaurant.

“We still do have some restaurants but there’s not many anymore and I think there’s still life in that concept.”

According to reports, Pizza Hut hopes to have about half of its 50 newly-acquired Eagle Boys stores operating under its brand by Christmas, with the rest to follow by the end of the first quarter of 2017.

Their addition would take Pizza Hut up to 320 stores, but it still trails compared to Domino’s which has more than 600.

Eagle Boys went into voluntary administration in July.
