A Place In The Sun's Craig Rowe reveals how long filming really takes and if phone calls are real
A Place In The Sun's Craig Rowe has dished out some fun details about the much-loved Channel 4 property programme as it makes its return for a new series.
The presenter and real estate guru has divulged a few behind-the-scenes secrets that viewers usually don't see, expressing his excitement to return for the upcoming series.
In an exclusive chat with the Mirror, Craig revealed of any fun facts from filming: "There's quite a few actually! Whenever I meet people, when people recognise me from A Place In The Sun, it could be on the tube, it could be in the supermarket, it could be in the street and people often say: 'How long does it take to film an episode?'
"And I tell them we take four days property hunting, then we have the day when we make the phone call, so basically it takes four and a half days to film each episode. Most people are really surprised about that!
"Obviously in the show, we never say it's one day but it looks like one day because we wear the same thing for the whole time. We don't change outfits until the last day as we just feel it would be distracting to keep having different clothes", reports the Mirror.
"Also, we'd have to pack a whole wardrobe so it's just easier to wear the same outfit each day. So on TV, it almost looks like it's one day so people are often quite surprised when they find out it takes four and a half days."
Craig also shared that fans are always taken aback by one particular aspect of the show. The giggling presenter revealed: "If I had a pound for every time someone says to me: 'At the end, that phone call from the agent, is it real? ' Everyone asks me that question."
He humorously responded: "I'm like: 'What do you think we do? Make it up?' It's a reality show," confirming that the calls are indeed real. On Tuesday's episode of A Place In The Sun, Craig helps retired couple Andrew and Robyn find a holiday home in Crete, Greece, where they can enjoy their hard-earned downtime with a budget of £250,000.
Talking about the new series and episode, Craig said: "It's really exciting. We spend so much time filming the episodes and travelling to different places.
"It's always really exciting when it finally goes out and people get to see it. For me, personally, I get to sort of relive the experience and I stay in touch with most of my house hunters so for them as well seeing it is really good."
The new series of A Place In The Sun is available to watch on weekdays at 4pm on Channel 4.
