Plans for 263-room hotel and 1,000 new homes in North London on land 'derelict' for decades
Plans for a £600 million regeneration project in North West London including a 263-room hotel and over 1,000 new homes, have been unveiled by Brent Council and developers.
The ambitious scheme in Stonebridge, Brent, which forms part of the Hillside Regeneration Corridor project, will see the existing Bridge Park Leisure Centre replaced with a facility more than double its current size. The development will also include a 263-room hotel and transform the neighbouring Unisys buildings site, which has stood derelict for two decades.
The new leisure centre plans feature a modern swimming pool, expanded gym facilities, a sports hall, function rooms, and a café. Residents are being invited to share their views on the proposals at two exhibitions this November.

Council Leader Muhammed Butt said: "Bridge Park has always been a symbol of community and togetherness. So, as the building comes to the end of its life, it's important that we do justice to both its history but also to what comes next. We take that responsibility very seriously.
“We’ve listened to what residents have told us they want in a new, state-of-the-art centre. Our proposals not only provide a new Bridge Park Leisure Centre but expand and improve it for future generations. Wider plans for investing in the site will create new opportunities for everyone in Stonebridge, as well as desperately needed new homes."
The existing leisure centre is set to close next year, with a final decision expected in early 2025. The council reports that the current building requires substantial, expensive maintenance work, including major repairs to lifts, making it financially unsustainable.
The development promises to deliver much-needed housing, including family and affordable homes, alongside new parks and green spaces. The scheme is expected to create hundreds of new jobs in the hotel and leisure sectors.
Mohammed Al-Miqdadi, Director of Stonebridge Real Estate Development (SRED), said: "These plans focus on creating vibrant green spaces for everyone, with a commitment to inclusivity, ensuring accessibility for people with disabilities, older adults, and neurodiverse individuals."
He added: "This major investment into Stonebridge will enrich the area and catalyse wider regeneration, whilst building on Bridge Park's legacy as a place for connection, activity, and opportunity for all."
The development is part of a broader investment strategy that includes other sites along the Hillside corridor, such as Morland Gardens, Twybridge Way, and Bernard Shaw House.
People are being encouraged to have their say at two exhibitions to find out more in person at Brent Start, Twybridge Way, London NW10 0ST on Thursday 28 November, from 3 to 7pm or Saturday 30 November, from 10am to 2pm. There will also be an online version, which will be live from Monday 25 November on the website. Have your say by Monday 6 January 2025.
