The work was done and completed in June this year and it is understood to have been done in time to show the UEFA European Football Championships gmes at the club.

However, the scheme was withdrawn on November 5. A notice says the planning application has been pulled after a request for it to be withdrawn.

A Stroud District Council spokesperson said: “The application was withdrawn following officer feedback."

Mr Housden, who is a County Councillor for Stonehouse, had assumed the role of chairman and manager in March 2023 of the former Conservative Club in London Road.

However, he resigned as club chairman last week. He is currently suspended by the Conservative group at Shire Hall and denies any wrongdoing.
