Two huge Edinburgh warehouses could be demolished for a student accommodation development, according to new plans.

A pre-application notice has been submitted to the council for the demolition of both 52-54 and 56-58 Bangor Road in Bonnington for a mixed use development comprising student flats and "employment space."

Further details on the development are expected in the form of a full planning application in due course. The unit at 56-58 is currently occupied by Edinburgh Arts & Picture Framers.

Last week plans emerged which would see a nearby office building on Breadalbane Street bulldozed for an unknown project. A Certificate of Lawful Development was submitted for the property known as Anderson House.

According to plans submitted on behalf of Maya Capital, the building is in use as office space, although functioning at a "low capacity" with ground floors units having been vacant for some time. Details on this development are also expected soon.
