A PROPOSAL has been submitted to build holiday pods for adults and children on land near a Seascale hotel.
Copeland Borough Council has received an application for planning permission to build four glamping pods for adults and three smaller two-bed pods for children, on land at Bailey Ground Hotel on Drigg Road.
In their statements supporting the application, the agent, Calva Design Studio said: “The pods will be located on garden land to the rear of the hotel."
They said: “The land slopes to the main car park, hence the need for the tiered levels and retaining walls proposed.
“The pods will integrate with the existing landscape in this part of the hotel grounds.”
Calva Design Studio said that the pods, designed for use by tourists, will be accessed via the existing car park and sited in a self-contained area of disused land.
They said that the pods “fit into any site and do not impose themselves on the landscape” as they are faced in lightweight unobtrusive tile.
Permission for associated works, including landscaping of the site will be sought from the council.
They said: “It is intended to create a tiered set of levels from the top of the site to the existing car park level.
“Any landscaping will be integrated in to the site and the use of stone gabion walls as retaining walls will be a key feature of the landscaping of the site."
