Plans for a major expansion at Glasgow Fort have been lodged with the council.

Bosses at the Easterhouse shopping centre want to add another retail block - adding around 60,000 square feet of additional leisure and shopping space. Plans to expand the shopping centre were originally lodged back in 2007, but they were never fully completed.

The proposal will see a new block added to the centre making space for three new units, each with a ground and first floor, bringing a boost for shoppers.

It is currently unknown if any shops have signed up for the new units. It comes as Primark announced it would be opening up at the Fort on December 5, just in time for Christmas.

The 2007 plans for three new blocks saw block eight and nine constructed, but not 10. The proposal will see the project fully completed.

As the plans are considered a major project, there will be a 12-week consultation period where people can see the plans.

A public consultation event will be held at Tinderbox, at the Fort on Wednesday, December 11 between 2pm and 7pm and on Thursday, January 16 between 4pm and 8pm.
