Plans submitted for new bar and grill restaurant near busy Nottingham retail park
A new restaurant could open opposite a busy retail park in Nottingham as plans have been submitted. The licencing application concerns a retail unit located at 346-348 Meadow Lane, opposite Lady Bay Retail Park.
The plans, which were submitted to Nottingham City Council on September 5, revealed owners wish for the premises licence to start from October 5. The application reads: "The premise will be a restaurant including a bar and grill, with an inside seating area that will serve approximately 30 people as well as an enclosed soundproof outside seating area that will not cause disturbance for the general public, especially as we are situated mainly around commercial buildings which operate during the day and we are not next to residential areas.
"We estimate that this outdoor seating area can hold 50 people." The plans also detail that alcohol will be served on the premises for from Tuesday to Thursday and Sunday between 12pm and 11.30pm and Friday and Saturday between 12pm and 2.30am.
Recorded music will also be played indoors only at the same times. Late night refreshment will be available Tuesday to Thursday and Sunday between 11am and 11.30pm and Friday and Saturday between 11am and 2.30am.
There will be no adult entertainment provided on the premises according to the plans. The application has also detailed health and safety measures that will be in place to ensure the wellbeing of customers and staff.
It reads: "[There will be] Enough staff to ensure the safety of customers as well as the ability to have clear knowledge of steps to take in the event of a fire. The premises shall have CCTV operating in accordance to the Police Licencing Act.
"Posters clearly displaying fire exits will be placed as well as fire extinguishers in the appropriate place." One of the units located in the terraced building was hit by a significant fire on May 27, 2021.
Seven fire crews were called to the scene and used an aerial ladder to pump water into the property and extinguish the fire. The flat, which was located above Dee's Flavour takeaway, had its roof taken off by the force of the fire.
The unit in which the restaurant will be located, which boasts 2,374sqft of space, was auctioned in February for £285,000.
