A planning application has been submitted to transform an empty building in Hull city centre.

Hull City Council have received an application for the redevelopment of the currently vacant Derek Crothall Building.

The building, with George Street to the south and Charlotte Street Mews to the north, had previously been a part of the University of Lincoln's Hull Campus, and has more recently been occupied by Hull Trinity House Academy.

The plans submitted to the Council depict how the building could be divided into two separate facilities:

  • Hull College Sports Provision: The existing sports hall and changing rooms will become part of a new sports provision for Hull College.

  • The Centre for Learning: The western half of the ground floor and all the upper floors of the building will come the Centre for Learning which will accommodate organisations such as Hull Training and Adult Education, Learning and Development and a Data Centre to serve Hull City Council.

The main entrances to both facilities are proposed to be on George Street, to the south of the building. Hull City Council will now decide if the application is to be successful.
